ARE YOU BLESSED by my Good News Reflections?
Has the Holy Spirit ministered to you through me?

Terry Modica Please serve Jesus with me:
You can make a difference!

Good News Ministries affects countless lives around the world, including in countries where people have no Catholic Mass and where Christianity is persecuted.

If Good News Ministries has blessed you in any way, please show your support with a gift and even a pledge of monthly donations!

To see how your donations help others, read these testimonials.

How donations to GNM are used:

  • On November 18, 1999, the daily Good News Reflections began with two people, then three, soon 200, and now more than 14,000 subscribers, many of whom live in countries where there is no Catholic Mass and Christians are persecuted.
  • In 2003, with help from donors we supported the Child Jesus Orphan Care fund of the Mangochi Diocese of Malawi, Central Africa.
  • In 2004, readers of my daily Good News Reflections sent me to Malawi, Central Africa, on a missionary trip to teach seminarians and catechists.
  • In 2005, Good News Ministries purchased and donated an expensive computer to a priest from Nigeria who was studying in Rome.
  • In 2007, we tithed our incoming donations to the Bishop of Jowai, India, to help him with his new diocese.
  • In 2008, donations enabled us to tithe to CardioStart, a non-profit outreach of heart surgeons who donate their services in poor countries.
  • In 2009, Good News supporters helped me get to a poor parish in Texas.
  • In 2010, we evangelized two "seeker" young adults by sponsoring them on a Catholic pilgrimage. We also donated to a parish's newly formed theater troupe to help them reach out to the greater community, evangelizing in an unconventional way by performing family-friendly musicals and inviting in those who would otherwise never enter a Catholic church.

Good News MinistriesIn addition to the ministry of writing daily reflections on the readings of Catholic Mass, Good News Ministries has been building and maintaining five websites (gnm.org, wordbytes.org, gogoodnews.net, and parishhope.com, starting with gnm.org in 1998.

Good News Ministries of Tampa Bay is a registered tax exempt 501(C)3 non-profit organization in the United States of America.

My wish-list includes:

  • a skilled webmaster who can update our websites and work with MySQL databases
  • a Spanish translator who is readily available online (weekdays, business hours) to help with correspondence
    • one who knows web design software and can translate the WordBytes directly onto webpages
    • one who lives in the Tampa Bay area and wants to help us expand our ministry to Hispanics
  • travel expenses covered for giving retreats and parish missions in poor or out-of-the-way places that are not reached by other speakers
  • a place to rent (or own) for the office and to host local (Tampa Bay area) retreats and courses
  • a peaceful place (Tampa Bay area) where we host priests and other weary servants of God for private retreats (read about the miracle we're seeking: The Restful Waters Restoration Center)

Why should I ask for donations?

If I preach the gospel,
this is no reason for me to boast,
for an obligation has been imposed on me,
and woe to me if I do not preach it!

If I do so willingly, I have a recompense,
but if unwillingly, then I have been
entrusted with a stewardship.

What then is my recompense?
That, when I preach,
I offer the gospel free of charge.
(1 Cor 9:16-18)

This scripture explains why we would rather quietly ask for donations instead of charging a fee for the Good News Reflections or the articles in the WordBytes e-zine or any of the other services offered by Good News Ministries.

Saint Paul was not saying it's wrong to charge a fee. In fact, Jesus said that the worker deserves his wages (Luke 10:7). But Paul knew that what matters most is being a good steward of the gifts that God has given us.
