The Catholic priest, like Jesus, also gives up everything for the sake of your redemption. By the grace of his Holy Orders, he serves "in persona Christi", i.e., the person of Christ works through him so that when we receive a Sacrament from a priest, it is not the man but Christ who gives it to us.

Just like Jesus, who washed the feet of his disciples before eating his Last Supper with them, our Catholic priests today wash the feet of their parishioners on Holy Thursday before celebrating the Eucharist.

The Mass that begins on Holy Thursday is a ministry that extends over a "Triduum" (three days). It extends through Good Friday and ends with the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday. This is why there are no Masses on Good Friday and Holy Saturday morning.
