Psalm 118:1, 14-21

Today’s Prayer:
May Your word, Lord, be fulfilled in me, and may those who seek You be able to see Your greatness beyond my littleness. Amen.

Reflection for Saturday:
If God thinks you can do it, then of course you can

we are apostles today

God designed each of us to be important, but too many of us act like useless nobodies by doing too little in the mission of Christ. It's not that we don't care. We simply don't believe we are that important nor that capable.

Think of a time when you were asked to do something and you turned it down because you thought you weren't qualified. Let's imagine that a request went out for someone to organize a Bible study for children. You ignored it because you were afraid that you might get in over your head. Your fears were stronger than your love for the children, and that made you useless.

This happens because we measure our value by the world's standards, which never satisfies. Apart from God, we are nothing. We are inadequate. But in him and through him, we are special! We are apostles! He created you with a special purpose in mind, no less than he did with me.

The greatest joy that we can ever receive comes from knowing that to God we are somebody. We never did anything to become important. It's a free gift, given to us in Baptism and Confirmation.

When we respond to apostolic opportunities with fear, we're useless because we underestimate the God who offered us the opportunity to work for him. We've forgotten that he's powerful enough to help us accomplish the task. If God thinks we can do it, then of course we can do it, as long as we keep in touch with him and allow him to function through us.

When we were baptized and confirmed into the Holy Spirit, we became a storehouse of God's riches. We became a distribution point for God's grace. The essence of our apostolic activity is to give to others what we have received from God.

"Thank God for GNM. It has brought grace and changes in my spiritual and physical life. May God bless the whole team, even those supporting materially and through prayers. God bless us all in Jesus name, Amen." (Stella NK)

Inside the Ministry:
Meet Lily, the new flower in GNM's bouquet

Recently we hired Lily Johana Cañon Valverde as a Social Media Assistant to draw in new members to Good News Ministries. And already we're seeing a significant increase in website visitors and subscribers to our various services, praise the Lord!

Lily works part-time to help us spread our faith-building posts farther than the staff had had the time to do. She is expanding our social media out and making great improvements to the way we used to handle this side of our ministry. To introduce Lily to you, I asked her to share her story with you:

Being at GNM as the Social Media Assistant is a God-send.  In 2015, my husband Felipe and I came to the U.S. on vacation, from Columbia. While visiting, we took advantage of an opportunity to go on a retreat. There, we met someone there who signed us up to receive GNM's daily reflections.

From that moment, every day, the first thing we've done at the beginning of the day is to open our email to receive that beautiful message.  Every day we've felt that God has been speaking to us through these reflections.

Terry Modica met Lily, Raquel, and Felipe in 2015We wanted to have the privilege of meeting Terry in person, this woman so inspired by the Holy Spirit. We drove four hours to spend a little time with her, to express our desire of belonging to her beautiful ministry with the talent that God gave us as journalists. We asked: "In what way could we serve there?"

We did not imagine that God's plan was to bring us to this beautiful country to live. God started something that only God understood.

Upon moving from Colombia and starting our life here in the US, Good News Ministries did not have any job openings for us. After going through various jobs, even as journalists, we are clear that we want to work for God; we want to use our talents at his service.

Lily, Felipe and their children in 2021Today we are blessed to have three daughters (Raquel, 7 years old, Gabriela, 4 years old, and Susana, 1 year old) and God knew that this was the right time for this new position at GNM.  Today God gives me the blessing of being part of this beautiful ministry, of working for Him and being able to do it from my home and thus be able to take care of my daughters.  I thank God and Terry for this opportunity and I ask Heaven that with my little contribution we can achieve great things for His kingdom!

Our Consecration to St. Joseph is now an ebook

Saint Joseph the WorkerMay 1st is the Feast Day of Saint Joseph the Worker. It was instituted by Pope Pius XII in 1955 to draw attention to the dignity of labor, and to remind us of the spirituality of our jobs.

Have you consecrated your life and your family and your work to Saint Joseph yet? If you haven't or if you have but you want to do it again, our popular 9-day Consecration to Saint Joseph is now an ebook you can download for free! Until now, it was only available as a daily email and texted via the Telegram app.

Go to to pray for the workers in your family and circle of friends, and their jobs.

Go to our Year of Saint Joseph resource page to find the 9-day Consecration to Saint Joseph and order the PDF booklet @

Get it now to print it and use it starting April 22 to end with the May 1st feast day as your consecration day.

This novena will help you consecrate yourself to St. Joseph, to learn from him as your spiritual father that you may grow in holiness, and to consecrate your loved ones and your parish and the world to St. Joseph, that they may learn from their troubles what Father God is teaching them, and to turn away from sin, turn to Christ, and embrace the Holy Eucharist.

With this novena, we seal ourselves as his children. We place into his fatherly protection ourselves, our families, our jobs and ministries, and the Church. We also consecrate to his fatherhood those who are not following Christ, especially our own family members, because Joseph's desire in heaven is that all of his children love his son, Jesus, and follow him to everlasting life.

Short videos + chat

Explore the wisdom in Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation, Amoris laetitia (The Joy of Love) in GNM's 9-week course. We will cover one chapter each week, unpacked in 3 short (5- or 6-minutes long) videos.

This is an important book to read — especially in today’s world where secular and immoral beliefs about marriage and family have become louder than the truth.

The Apostolate of the Laity to defeat evil
(archived mini-course)

God’s plan to defeat evil in the Church is revealed in The Decree in the Apostolate of the Laity. It was a prophetic message, given in the 1960s — more true today than when it was originally written. The Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity from Vatican Council II, says:

"Since in our own times new problems are arising and very serious errors are circulating which undermine the foundations of religion" (so obvious now in the Church), "the moral order" (increasing the immorality of so many priests), and human society itself…" the lay faithful have a very important apostolate of renewing the Church from within.

I open this up in a series of podcasts that I recorded in 2019. Today, I especially recommend parts 1, 2, and 3 @
