Reflection for Saturday:
How the love of Christ makes us champions

champions"The love of Christ impels us..." (2 Corinthians 5:14).

We are apostles, you and I. An "apostle" is a disciple of Christ who has been promoted to the important responsibilities of being sent into the world by Christ himself to continue the mission of Christ.

See the WordByte, What does it mean to be an apostle today?

During Vatican Council II, the bishops wrote the Decree on the Apostolate of Lay People to help the whole Church understand how important the lay faithful are in doing the works of Christ. They wrote: "In its desire to intensify the apostolic activity of the people of God the Council now earnestly turns its thoughts to the Christian laity."

That quote, which is the first sentence of the Decree, is a mind-blower. The Church hierarchy is called "to intensify" -- stir up, make hot, increase -- the "apostolic activity" of laity! Where the Church has been weak and parishes have failed to grow, this calling has been ignored. Where the sins of pride and tyrannical control have infiltrated the minds of pastors and bishops, this calling has been rejected and the eternal souls of countless un-evangelized people and fallen-away Catholics are suffering. Where the laity sit back and expect the clergy and parish staff to do everything, a LOT of Christ's mission has been left undone.

No wonder the world is in such a big mess today.

"The love of Christ impels us." We need to repent as a Church and as individuals for not becoming so consumed by our love for Christ that we have failed to be all that God designed us to be and do all that God calls us to do.

"So we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Every one of the volunteers and staff and prayer supporters and financial supporters of Good News Ministries are Ambassadors of the Good News. Who are the lost loved ones? Who has left the Church because it seems irrelevant to them? Who has been tricked by the devil into believing that Christ's ways are bad and that immorality is good? Who is longing for peace and healing and joy but not finding it?

God is appealing to them through his ambassadors.

Each ambassador is a Champion of Christ, championing the cause of Christ's mission, in small tasks or large, in small sacrificial donations or large. And I thank you if you are one of them. Better than that Jesus himself is thanking you!

Now is the time of year when our need for extra help is necessary. For Good News Ministries to continue going and growing, we need a surge of donations. God desires loving sacrifices. What are you willing to give up this week in order to fulfill your calling as an apostle who's been sent by Christ to change the world through the apostolate of Good News Ministries?

The staff and I are 100% convicted of our calling to build your faith and strengthen the faith of others so that -- together -- we can successfully bring Christ to unbelievers and unbelievers to Christ.

Please help today!

Inside the Ministry:
Update about "What does God want?"

YouTubeA couple of weeks ago, I sent a letter entitled "What does God want?" to all subscribers and everyone else who has contacted us to receive something from Good News Ministries. I was seeking direction from God through the voices of our GNM community regarding problems with using YouTube.

It's a complex issue, because we want to be where others gather so that they can find our faith-building resources, and yet we also believe we should not support persecutors of Christians and haters of biblical values. Although Google has not removed any of GNM's YouTube videos, they have done it to our brothers and sisters and they have even shut down channels without giving the ministries who own them any warning or recourse or opportunity to defend themselves.

It's a battlefield -- the same battlefield that the Devil's been using to steal more and more territory away from the Kingdom of God. Daily I ask the Holy Spirit what GNM should be doing to stand on the correct side of the battlefield, to infiltrate the enemy's side, and to fortify you and the others we serve. I also have to ask what we should do to prepare for the worsening persecution that the devil is undoubtedly leading up to. This includes recent changes that have been made in YouTube policies. When you watch the details, you can make a very good guess where they're headed.

We have the same problem with Facebook. In this case, we opened a page for our posts on MeWe @ But most Facebook users are not making the switch, so we are keeping our presence in both places. We even made our Facebook presence stronger by hiring a Social Media Manager (Lily Cañon).

After praying over the feedback we received in response to my letter and the lack of donations earmarked to support a video account on Rumble or other alternatives to YouTube, it's clear that (1) it's important to continue our presence on YouTube, and (2) we cannot afford any suitable alternatives.

Please help us continue to infiltrate the devil's side of the battlefield in our use of social media: Another way you can help is by infiltrating the enemy by sharing our posts in every social media platform you belong to.

Thank you!

The Apostolate of the Laity in today's Church
(podcast course)

It was a prophetic message, given in the 1960s — more true today than when it was originally written. The Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity from Vatican Council II, says: "Since in our own times new problems are arising and very serious errors are circulating which undermine the foundations of religion" (even within the Church), "the moral order, and human society itself…" the lay faithful have a very important apostolate of renewing the Church from within.

Learn what this very important document says about your role in the Church. If you're a lay person, you need to know this. If you're a priest, do you know what this document says about your role in empowering the laity?

God wants us to rely on him for guidance. We are in an evil age, but we are also in the Age of the Holy Spirit, which began when Jesus first sent the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. The Holy Spirit makes very clear what the truth is – through Scripture and through the Church documents that have accumulated since the original Apostles. But we have not been reading the Church documents. So now we need to do some catching up. God is using the papacy of Pope Francis to get us all fired up so that he can set us loose upon the world — a world that the devil has infected so thoroughly that our mission has become extremely important.

A Meditation on the Passion of Christ Through the Eyes of Peter and Judas

Written with a powerfully life-changing twist, this is not the usual Passion story. “Forgiven” shows the passion of Christ as seen through the eyes of Peter and Judas. Each react in different ways to the final days and crucifixion of Jesus. One chooses forgiveness and the other ends his life in terrible guilt.

The story ends with the reunion of Jesus and Peter after the resurrection when Jesus calls Peter to become the first leader of the Church.

This is a fictional account based on the true events of the Passion of Jesus Christ, for the purpose of meditation.
