The Cathedral's initial benefactor, Thomas O'Neill is honored near the Sacristy because of his visionary understanding of the importance of building a cathedral, although the city of Baltimore and the Archdiocese of Baltimore already had a basilica that served as the home of the Premier See of the United States. Our cathedral has become a community gathering place for many important public events. For more information about Thomas O'Neill, visit our Memorial Chapel or see this website's pages about the history of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. |
