Why do you need the Holy Spirit?
Bill Snyder, board member of Good News Ministries, recently challenged us to respond to the Witness Challenge: “Why do you need the Holy Spirit alive and actively working in your life?” The challenge is to post your answer on social media in a short, informal video and (this is important) give your post two hashtags: #WitnessChallenge and #GNMWitness.
Meet Beth Solis, our newest board member. She took up Bill’s challenge. She said, “My husband Deacon Javier and I responded together. We were also asked if we found this harder than the Ice Water challenge from a few years ago. YES! It was hard for us to adequately put into words how much we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives to enlighten us, guide us, and equip us with all we need to handle what God puts in front of us each day in our ministries and in our daily lives.”
She added, “Thank you, Jesus, for always being with us through the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit to help keep us aligned to God’s good and holy will. I invite everyone who is sincerely trying to live out their Christian faith to participate in this challenge and share how the Holy Spirit helps you.
“Yeah, it’s a little intimidating to be so open about our faith on social media, but if we can do it, you can too!”
The challenge includes tagging three of your family and friends who are on social media, encouraging them to join the Witness Challenge. This is how Good News Ministries is teaming up with Pentecost Today to enliven the Church’s celebration of Pentecost Sunday and, at the same time, to encourage you to be the faith-spreading witness you’ve been called to be.
Let’s do this!
This week’s recommended video:
Why do you believe?
Near the end of 2017, we raised a different challenge. We asked GNM members to put onto video, using their phones, their answer to: “Why do you believe that the Good News about Jesus needs to be spread throughout the world?”
Use the resulting compiled video for ideas for the #GNMWitness Challenge. Visit gnm-media.org/why-do-you-believe.
If a few more people accept the #GNMWitness Challenge, we can compile a new video for our website.
