January 18 – Saint Charles of Sezze

Saint-Charles-of-Sezze

Sweet Jesus, Saint Charles of Sezze knew what it meant to have a lowly job.  As a child, he worked as a shepherd, and as a Franciscan lay brother, he served in a variety of menial positions at friaries, doing whatever was asked of him.  In this, he discovered great joy and a close relationship with You.  I offer up to You all those tasks I have to do that I don’t like, the ones that seem pointless, the chores I find distasteful and the duties that others demand of me.  Teach me to be cheerful and not complain as I do my work.  In each moment of these jobs, help me to experience Your wonderful Presence.  Saint Charles, pray for me.  Amen.
