December 24 – Saint Adele
Heavenly Father, Saint Adele saw her first vocation as a wife and mother. She served You well by taking care of her family, praying, and doing works of mercy. When her husband died, she became a nun and founded a convent. As its first abbess, she ruled with great compassion and holiness. I ask her to pray for women and men who are being called to a religious vocation late in life. O Lord, help them to hear Your call and to put aside the life they have been living. Direct them to join the orders that will best suit their gifts. Inspire their families to give them encouragement and generous support. Saint Adele, pray for us. Amen.
Quote for Today
Venerable Fulton Sheen (1895-1979)
The wicked fear the good, because the good are a constant reproach to their consciences. The ungodly like religion in the same way that they like lions, either dead or behind bars; they fear religion when it breaks loose and begins to challenge their consciences.”
The prayer above is from Terry Modica’s book Daily Prayers with the Saints.
