October 24 – Saint Anthony Claret

Saint Anthony Claret

listenLord Jesus, Saint Anthony Claret was a priest who believed that the whole world was his mission field, beginning with his own parish.  He gave conferences to priests and founded the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, now known as the Claretians.  Saint Anthony Claret was convinced that the Church should use the power of the printed word to evangelize the world.  I ask him to pray for God’s blessing on the newest tool of communication, the Internet.  O Lord, help pastors, laity, and those in Church ministries to reach the full potential of using websites and other computer technology to spread the Good News.  Saint Anthony, pray for us.  Amen.

Quotes for Today

Saint Anthony Mary Claret (1807-1870)

quoteIt is only by hammer blows that God manages to humble us, no matter how good our native disposition.”

quoteO my God! I reacted to Your mercy by committing new sins and offenses. I know that I have done evil, O my God, and I repent with my whole heart. Ah, would that I could shed a sea of tears for such outrageous ingratitude! O Jesus, have mercy on me; for I now resolve to rather suffer a thousand deaths than offend You again.”

quoteWe do well to recall the words of Isaiah, ‘Your strength is in silence and hope’.”
