December 2 – Saint Bibiana

Saint Bibiana

listenBlessed Savior, Saint Bibiana (4th century) lost everything except her faith in You.  Her parents and sister were killed in the persecutions and her possessions were confiscated.  This only increased her desire to rely on You, so the pagans killed her, too.  I ask her to intercede for all those I know who are grieving the loss of loved ones, homes, jobs, or health, the loss of innocence through rape, or the loss of safety through other forms of abuse.  Comfort them and fill their empty hearts with Your tremendous love, O Lord.  Draw them closer to You and give them compassionate friends who minister to them in their sorrow.  Saint Bibiana, pray for us.  Amen.

Quotes for Today

Saint Chromatius of Aquileia (d.407)
Feast day December 2

quote‘Blessed are the compassionate, for God will have compassion for them.’ The Lord of compassion says that the compassionate are blessed. No one can obtain God’s compassion unless that one is also compassionate. In another passage Jesus said, ‘Be compassionate, just as your Father who is in the heavens is compassionate.'”

Blessed Maria Angela Astorch (1592-1665)
Feast day December 2

quoteLet your love be like Christ’s love, revealing itself not only in feelings, but in deeds.”

Blessed John van Ruysbroeck (1293-1381)
Feast day December 2

quoteWhere God and the soul come together in the union of love, then God, above time, gives His light; and the soul, in a single moment of time, gives, by virtue of the grace received, its free conversion to Him.”
