September 3 – Saint Gregory the Great
Heavenly King, Saint Gregory the Great (c.540-604) was the first pope who referred to himself as “the servant of the servants of God,” and popes since then have used the same title. I ask him to pray for our current pope — bless him, dear God, with good health and length of days to accomplish the tasks You have asked him to do. Bless also the people who assist him, and increase the success of his ministry by softening the hearts of world leaders as he calls for the improvement of life in all countries. When it’s time to raise up a new pope, guide the thinking of those who will be discerning Your choice. Saint Gregory, pray for us. Amen.
