March 28 – Saint Guntramnus
Jesus Lord of Unity, Saint Guntramnus (c.532-592) was a peacemaker. He strictly and justly enforced the law, regardless of a person’s rank or status or situation, but when it came to crimes against himself, he forgave the offenders, even after two attempted assassinations. I lift up to his intercession the victims of war crimes and the victims of violence in schools, homes, and workplaces. Help those who have lost loved ones. Teach us to forgive. Jesus, be the source of reconciliation between all of us. Heal our wounds, help us to let go of hatred and fear, and recreate us into peacemakers. Saint Guntramnus, pray for us. Amen.
Quote for Today
Venerable Louis of Granada (1505-1588)
Among the works comprised in charity to our neighbor, the following are the most important: advice, counsel, succor, forbearance, pardon, edification. These are so strongly linked with charity that the practice of them indicates the progress we have made in the practice of charity.”
The prayer above is from Terry Modica’s book Daily Prayers with the Saints.
