October 22 – Saints Nunilo & Alodia
O Gentle Lord, Saints Nunilo and Alodia (d.c.842/51) were daughters of a Muslim who was a kind man and allowed his Christian wife to raise their daughters in the Christian faith. After his death, their mother married a Muslim who attacked Christianity. He had the girls arrested. When they refused to deny Christ, they were placed in a brothel and later beheaded. I ask them to pray for all children being raised in multi-faith homes and step-families. Holy Spirit, anoint their minds to believe the true Faith and remain devoted to it. I also ask them to pray for abused step-children. Rescue them, O Lord, and heal their wounds. Help them to receive the love from You that they could not receive from their abusers. Saints Nunilo and Alodia, pray for us. Amen.
Quotes for Today
Pope Saint John Paul II (1920-2005)
Feast day October 22
Prayer increases the strength and spiritual unity of the family, helping families to partake of God’s own strength. Prayer needs to become a regular habit in the daily lives of each family.”
Jesus entrusted to [the Apostles] the gift of ‘forgiving sins,’ a gift that flows from the wounds in His hands, His feet, and especially from His pierced side. From there a wave of mercy is poured out over all humanity. Let us relive this moment with great spiritual intensity.”
The prayer above is from Terry Modica’s book Daily Prayers with the Saints.
