December 17 – Saint Olympias

Saint Olympias

listenHoly Spirit, Saint Olympias (c.361/368-408) served You as a deaconess and as a benefactor for many Church causes.  Though her husband died shortly after their wedding day, she decided to never marry again so she could devote herself to full-time ministry.  I ask her to pray for the women I know who are involved in ministry or who are being called but have not yet responded.  O Lord, bless the stewardship of their gifts and open doors of acceptance to help them carry out their apostolates.  Inspire others to recognize their value and raise them up to positions where they can best make a difference.  Saint Olympias, pray for us.  Amen.

Quote for Today

Saint Modestus of Jerusalem (d.630)
Feast Day December 17

quoteAs the most glorious Mother of Christ, our Savior and our God and the giver of life and immortality, has been endowed with life by him, she has received an eternal incorruptibility of the body together with him who has raised her up from the tomb and has taken her up to himself in a way known only to him.”
