February 28 – Saint Romanus of Condat

Saint-Romanus-of-Condat.jpg

Jesus Lamb of God, You healed two lepers through Saint Romanus of Condat (c.390-c.460) because he embraced them.  I ask him to intercede for those in my family and community who are outcasts because of their illnesses, including those with HIV and AIDS.  Send humble people into their lives like Saint Romanus who will give them understanding and compassion and Your healing graces.  Help the suffering people feel Your embrace through those who minister to them and care for them.  Teach them to discover — and grow in the awareness of — the infinite love and saving power that is in You.  Saint Romanus of Condat, pray for us.  Amen.

Quotes for Today

Saint Damien of Molokai (1840-1889)

quoteI make myself a leper with the lepers to gain all to Jesus Christ.”

quoteThe Eucharist is the bread that gives strength…. It is at once the most eloquent proof of His love and the most powerful means of fostering His love in us. He gives Himself every day so that our hearts as burning coals may set afire the hearts of the faithful.”

quoteWithout the Blessed Sacrament a position like mine would be intolerable.”
