March 2 – Saint Agnes of Prague

Saint-Agnes-of-Prague.jpg

listenO God of abundant blessings, You made Saint Agnes of Prague (1211-1282) very wealthy, and she freely used this gift to help the poor.  She financed a hospital, a Franciscan friary and a Poor Clare convent.  She never considered herself as above others, and even after she became abbess, she cooked for the sisters and mended the clothes of lepers.  Help me to grow in my own generosity.  Teach me to be a cheerful giver as I share whatever You have given me.  Bless me with your Spirit of joy in serving those whom the world declares to be unworthy.  Help me always to see myself as an instrument of Your grace.  Saint Agnes of Prague, pray for me.  Amen.

Quote for Today

Saint Chad of Mercia (620-672)
Feast day March 2

quoteAs often as God disturbs the sky, yet spares us still, we should implore God’s mercy, examining the innermost recesses of our hearts and purging out the dregs of our sins, and behave with such caution that we may never deserve to be struck down.”
