August 2 – Saint Peter Julian Eymard

Saint Peter Julian Eymard

listenDear Father, Saint Peter Julian Eymard served as spiritual director for seminarians.  As the founder of the Priests of the Blessed Sacrament, a religious order devoted to adoration of the Eucharist, the witness of his life inspired many to join the priesthood.  I ask him to pray for the seminarians and for those who have not yet responded to their true vocation.  Fill their hearts, O God, with a longing to be involved in service to the Church.  Help them to put aside the influences of the world.  Bring people into their lives who will help them have spiritual experiences that set them on fire for holy ministry.  Saint Peter Julian Eymard, pray for us.  Amen.

Quotes for Today

Saint Peter Julian Eymard (1811-1868)

quoteHe loves, He hopes, He waits. Our Lord prefers to wait Himself for the sinner for years rather than keep him waiting one instant.”

Saint Peter Faber (1506-1546)
Feast day August 2

quoteAnyone who wants to help the heretics of this age must love them in truth, banishing from his soul all considerations which would tend to chill his esteem for them. We need to win their goodwill, so that they will love us and accord us a good place in their hearts. This can be done by speaking familiarly with them about matters we both share in common, and avoiding any debate in which one side tries to put down the other.”

quoteSeek grace in the smallest things, and you will find also grace to accomplish, to believe in, and to hope for the greatest things.”
