August 12 – Saint Porcarius of Lérins

Our Father, the monastery in which Saint Porcarius of Lérins (d.732)  lived was attacked by heathen invaders.  Knowing they were about to be slaughtered, the monks prayed together and encouraged each another to endure their suffering because of their love of Christ.  I ask them to intercede for those being persecuted today, including the unborn children who are in danger of being aborted.  Pray for the conversion of the enemies of the Faith, that they may learn to respect the value of all persons.  Teach us to protect human life from the moment of conception until the moment of death.  Saint Porcarius and companions, pray for us.  Amen.
