April 14 – Saints Tiburtius, Valerian and Maximus

Saints-Tiburtius-Valerian-and-Maximus

listenBlessed Redeemer, Saints Tiburtius and Valerian and Maximus (c. 2nd Century) were martyred because of the boldness of their faith.  I offer to You the crosses in my life that I am afraid to continue carrying.  Give me the courage and strength to remain with You, my Lord Jesus, in the way of sacrifice for the glory of God’s kingdom.  Help me to love You more than my own life. And when I get tired and think I cannot bear one more day of suffering, give me rest and restoration to get me going again. Saints Tiburtius and Valerian and Maximus, pray for me.  Amen.

Quote for Today

Venerable Fulton Sheen (1895-1979)

quoteThe refusal to take sides on great moral issues is itself a decision. It is a silent acquiescence to evil. The Tragedy of our time is that those who still believe in honesty lack fire and conviction, while those who believe in dishonesty are full of passionate conviction.”
