October 30 – Saint Alphonsus Rodriguez

Beloved Jesus, Saint Alphonsus Rodriguez was a devout Christian who had to rethink his belief in You when his business went bad and then his wife and daughter died.  Rather than giving up on You and losing faith, he prayed, did penance for his sins, and received the Sacraments more often.  Doing this, he began to find new direction for his life.  I ask him to pray for me when I am in sorrow and for all those I know who are suffering the loss of loved ones or job security.  O God, help us to grow in trusting You.  Do not let us languish in despair, but teach us to place our hope in You for all our needs.  Saint Alphonsus, pray for us.  Amen.
