Christmas can be a difficult time for people who are experiencing hardships, illness, loneliness and sadness of any kind, and hearing the word “Rejoice” can strike a dissonant chord if we consider it as something we have to add to our list of things to do. But if we listen to the word “Rejoice” with an open heart, we realize that God is heartily inviting us to share in his peace, love and comfort until it fills us up and spills over to others’ lives.

That is the message that the angels sang to the shepherds, that Christ has come into the world to bring God’s love to us all.  Rejoice!
