Prayers for Parents – Little Flower Novena

Little Flower Novena
for Healing in Your Family

Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower of Jesus and Mary, promised to spend her Heaven doing good upon Earth. You can pray this novena to enlist her help in your family.

Saint Therese of Lisieux the Little FlowerPrayers to be said each day:
Come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts of the faithful, fill our own hearts and the heart of our son/daughter
, and kindle in us the fire of divine love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

Father God, who instructs us by the light of the Holy Spirit; grant that by the gift of the same Spirit, we may be ever truly wise and rejoice in your Spirit’s consolation, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Acts of Faith, Hope, and Love: O my God! We believe in You: strengthen our faith. All our hopes are in You: please secure them. We love You: teach us to love You daily more and more.

Personal Act of Contrition: O my God! I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins that have contributed to disunity and suffering in my family. In hurting others I have hurt You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

Concluding Prayer to be used each day:
O Lord Jesus, You have said: Unless you become as little children you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. Grant to our family the desire and ability to follow, in humility and simplicity of heart, the footsteps of Your Holy Family, with the help of St. Thérèse, that we may receive family unity and holiness here on earth and attain an everlasting reward in heaven. Amen.

First Day:
St. Thérèse, privileged Little Flower of Jesus and Mary, we approach you with childlike confidence and deep humility. We lay before you our longing for our family’s healing and unity and holiness and all our concerns about our son/daughter
. We beg that through your intercession we receive the divine help we need. You promised to spend your heaven doing good upon earth; grant us according to this promise the help we are seeking from you. Intercede for us all the days of our life, but specially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Second Day:
St. Thérèse, now that you see the crucified Jesus in heaven, still bearing the wounds caused by our sins, you understand the value of the souls of our family and the priceless worth of that Precious Blood which He shed to redeem us.
is one of those children for whom Christ died. Obtain for him <substitute “her” when appropriate> all the graces he needs in order to profit by that Precious Blood. Use your great power with our divine Lord and pray for us. Intercede for us all the days of our life, but especially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Third Day:
Dear Little Flower, St. Thérèse, we ask that you make all things in
’s life turn around for good, to lead him to heaven and God and to return him to our family. Whether he looks at the sun, the moon, the stars and the vast expanse in which they float, or whether he looks at the flowers and trees and the other beauties of the earth, may they speak to him of the love and power of God; may they all sing His praises in
’s ear. Help
to daily love God more and more in return for His gifts and open up in him a love for his family through which he loves God. Teach him to deny himself in his dealings with others, that he may offer to Jesus many little sacrifices. Intercede for us all the days of our life, but especially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Fourth Day:
Dear Little Flower of Carmel, St. Thérèse, bearing so patiently the disappointments and delays allowed by God, and preserving in the depths of your soul an unchanging peace because you sought only God’s will, obtain for our family complete conformity to that adorable Will in all the trials and disappointments of life and in our thoughts of each other and our dealings with each other. If our desire to have
return to us is pleasing to God, obtain this for us. If not, it is true we shall feel the refusal keenly, but we too wish only God’s Will, and we pray in the words you used, that His Will “may ever be perfectly fulfilled in me.” Intercede for us all the days of our life, but especially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Fifth Day:
Little Flower of Jesus, St. Thérèse, from the very first moment of your religious life you thought only of denying yourself in all things so as to follow Jesus more perfectly; help us and especially help
to bear patiently the trials of our daily lives. Teach us to make use of the trials, the sufferings, the humiliations, that come our way, to learn to know ourselves better and to love God more. Intercede for us all the days of our life, but especially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Sixth Day:
St. Thérèse, Patroness of the Missions, be a great missionary in the life of our son
. Remind our Master of His own words, “The harvest is great, but the laborers are few.” Your zeal for souls was so great that we ask you to obtain a similar zeal for those who are in
’s life who can help him become right with God through holiness and unity with our family. Beg God to multiply their numbers, that he be surrounded by holy, healing influences and be brought to know, love and follow Jesus more fully. Intercede for us all the days of our life, but especially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Seventh Day:
O little martyr of Love, St. Thérèse, you know now even better than in the days of your pilgrimage on earth that Love embraces all vocations; that it is Love alone which counts, which unites us perfectly to God and conforms our will with His. All you sought on earth was love; to love Jesus as He had never yet been loved. Use your power in heaven to help
love Him more fully by loving our family and reuniting him with us. In this love, shall no longer fear us nor fear God’s holy will. Obtain for
the grace to do all for the love of God, to give Him pleasure, to love Him so well that He may be pleased with him like He was with you. Intercede for us all the days of our life, but especially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Eighth Day:
Dear St. Thérèse, like you we all have to die one day. We beseech you, obtain from God, by reminding Him of your own precious death, a life for
that is full of love and service for the kingdom of God and then a holy death, strengthened by the Sacraments of the Church, entirely resigned to the most holy Will of God, and burning with love for Him. Help our whole family live and die in such love that our last words on earth will be, “My God. I love You.” Intercede for us all the days of our life, but especially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Ninth Day:
Dear Little St. Thérèse, by love and suffering while you were on earth, you won the power with God that you now enjoy in heaven. Since your life there began, you have showered down countless blessings on this poor world; you have been an instrument made use of by your divine Spouse to work countless miracles. We beg of you to remember all our family’s needs and relationships. Sufferings come to us also; help us to use them to love God more and follow Jesus better. You are especially the little missionary of love. Empower
and our whole family to love Jesus more, and to love each other and all others for His sake. With all our heart we thank the most Holy Trinity for the wonderful blessings conferred on you, and upon the world through you. Intercede for us all the days of our life, but especially during this Novena and obtain for us from God the graces and favors we ask through your intercession. Amen. > Concluding Prayer

Amen.

Each day of this novena contains a brief story about various apparitions of St. Joseph, with special prayers.

With this consecration, we seal ourselves as his children. We place into his fatherly protection ourselves, our families, our jobs and ministries, and the Church. We also consecrate to his fatherhood those who are not following Christ, especially our own family members, because Joseph’s desire in heaven is that all of his children love his son, Jesus, and follow him to everlasting life.
