The First Sorrowful Mystery

THE AGONY IN THE GARDEN

Jesus Praying the Agony in the Garden of GethsemaneMeditation:
St. Alphonsus said: “He saw Himself affronted by his own disciples. One of them betrays and sells Him for thirty pieces. Another denies Him many times, protesting publicly that he knows Him not; and thus attesting that he was ashamed to have known Him in the past. The other disciples, then, at seeing Him taken and bound, all fly and abandon Him.”

For all those times I’ve betrayed You, Lord Jesus, denied knowing You, felt ashamed to show my Christianity, or abandoned Your guidance because I didn’t like it, I pray….

Our Father, Who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen!

Together we pray:

Rosary: Oh My Jesus

Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins,
save us from the fires of hell;
lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those most in need of Your Mercy.
