Heavenly King, Saint Ambrose of Siena (1220-1286) was born with painful birth defects, and the only place the baby felt peace was at church. When he grew old enough to talk, he uttered the name “Jesus” and all deformity disappeared. He began to meditate during the night, and at age two, he chose hearing the stories of saints over any other book. May his enthusiasm convict me of how much more time I should dedicate to prayer. Remind me to always call on my patron saint for protection. Help me to become aware of all saints’ love for me, their prayer support, and their guidance. Saint Ambrose of Siena, pray for me. Amen.
Quote for Today
Saint Maria of the Heart of Jesus (1842-1912)
Feast day March 20
Do not believe that caring for the sick consists only in giving them medicine and food; there is another kind of care which you should never forget, that of the heart which seeks to adapt to the suffering person, going to meet his needs.”
The prayer above is from Terry Modica’s book Daily Prayers with the Saints.
