He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands
As a child, I remember repeatedly watching a VHS tape of a concert by Canadian children’s singer Raffi. One of my favorite songs during his performance was the closing song, He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands. This catchy tune has a way of dispelling anxiety and worry, reminding us that God is in control.
Sometimes our lives can feel out of control, and despite our best efforts, we can’t get a foothold. If you find yourself spiraling, I suggest remembering the lesson taught in this children’s song. God has got the whole world in His hands – you included. He knit you together in your mother’s womb, and He is not going to abandon you.
However, the enemy tries to shift our focus to the chaos using two tactics. First, it makes you anxious about the storms. He says, “Look at all this bad stuff happening in and around your life. If you can’t solve these problems, ignore them or run from them.” Then he hits us with the second lie, “personal holiness is impossible for you. Maybe for some of the saints and really pious people it is, but not for you. These lies are meant to keep our focus on the chaos of our current circumstances, so that we never look up, ask heaven for help, or accomplish God’s will for our lives.
God dispels this lie by simply holding us in his arms like a beloved child, saying, “You are mine, I’ve made you and chosen you for a purpose only you can fulfill. I’ve also redeemed you with my sacrifice, and I’m with you in your sufferings and difficulties until the end – there is no need to run and hide.”
This week, I encourage you to take a deeper dive into the magnitude of our Heavenly Father’s love for us and read Terry Modica’s (our founder’s) article, “The Father Who Runs to You,” on CatholicExchange.com. It’s a reminder of the boundless love God has for you.
Finally, if you are anxious or worried right now, take a deep breath and remember you are not alone. Our team at Good News Ministries is praying for you and is committed to helping you to know God’s will and do it well.
May God continue to bless you and your family.
