A Godly Takeover
Last week, I wrote the newsletter from the passenger seat of a car while driving to the National Catholic Charismatic Renewal Conference in Houston, TX. I’m writing this week from the comfort of my home office after journeying 2,500 miles and a jammed-packed week of ministry activities and meetings. I am exhausted, but spiritually rejuvenated.
I believe the greatest gift I received during the past week was a fresh realization of how much we need God’s grace to accomplish even the smallest task. One of my roles during the conference was to utilize my media production skills to livestream the sessions and keynote talks to virtual attendees. Once I arrived on-site, I encountered numerous and serious obstacles that jeopardized our ability to send the conference to those who paid for virtual admission.
The details of the many obstacles our team faced are not important, but what I will say is that we were unprepared and technically unable to “go live” ten minutes before the conference was ready to begin. Many of the challenges our team faced, we had no experience in handling, yet the Holy Spirit gave us supernatural wisdom in each instance. For those watching at home, our difficulties and challenges were imperceptible.
Multiple times throughout the weekend, our team looked at one another and said, “How did that happen?” The only reasonable answer was “God took over.” He superempowered our natural talents with His grace and gave us fresh insights and problem-solving skills. Without His miraculous intervention, the livestream our viewers would have been very disappointed.
I am still bewildered and amazed at how God worked powerfully this past weekend. As I’ve been reflecting on this experience, I’ve had one recurring thought as to how we accomplished a seemingly impossible task. We offered Him our skills, asked for His heavenly insight, and followed His direction. Simply, we cooperated with His plan.
I encourage you this week to permit God to “take over” your life. If you do the impossible will be possible. If you are unsure how to surrender to Him, recite this Prayer for God’s Guidance, still your mind, and listen for His voice. Then be prepared to act on what he speaks into your heart, and you’ll be amazed at what happens!
