The Joy of Love, Chapter 1 Part 2

The Joy of Love - Amoris laetitia

Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia

Companionship for the path of suffering

Prayerfully reflect on Romans 12:17-21. As you do so, keep in mind that an “enemy” is anyone who opposes your will. Spouses and family members are not always our enemy, but during arguments and worse, they are.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil; be concerned for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, on your part, live at peace with all. Beloved, do not look for revenge … for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Rather, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.” Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good.

Reflection Questions:

How have you experienced Jesus serving you by ministering to you in a difficult family situation?

(If you are willing to share this publicly, email me your answer to be posted here as a testimony; it will help others discover God’s radical love. Your identity will be hidden and protected. Private comments and questions may also be emailed to me during the weeks that this is a live, interactive course.)
