He said to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.” They wanted to take him into the boat, but the boat immediately arrived at the shore to which they were heading. (From Saturday’s Gospel reading)

Reflection for Saturday: The miracle of the boat

two boats docked near a stormIn the miracle of the boat, we often think about the dramatic miracle of Jesus walking on water. But did you notice the equally amazing end of that story?

The moment the disciples wanted to invite Jesus to climb into the boat, zap! God supernaturally transported Jesus and the disciples and the boat to their destination!

It isn’t just reserved for the miracle of the boat. This is how God works in our lives too. The moment we recognize our need for Jesus, he says, “I’m here. Don’t be afraid.” And then, before we can invite him into our boats, we’re already with him beyond the place of fear, arriving on the shore of the mission that he wants us to do.

Every trial, every hardship, every suffering we’re enduring is meant to be turned into the mission of Christ. We must find our own version of the miracle of the boat.

If you haven’t taken my course yet on “How to Turn Your Crosses into Resurrections”, make time for it now for the sake of letting God lift you up into Easter joy. Go to gnm.org/paracletia-course-description-c02.

Inside the Ministry: Update on Ralph

Ralph and Terry ModicaThank you for your on-going prayers for my husband Ralph and for me as I take care of him. He is recovering from the first of two surgeries. His open heart surgery has been delayed to later in May because his hemoglobin count was extremely low. Surgery has corrected that problem.

God has been making his presence known to us. Just before he went into the hospital on April 19th, I saw three hawks fly by, all in the same day. Hawks are a sign that God gave us many years ago to remind us that he sees all the details and therefore all will be well.

And then, after his April 20th surgery, he was sent to room A333. Such a perfect number! It reminded us again that God is with us, taking good care of Ralph.

My energy is drained by the stresses of journeying with my husband through his hospitalizations and recovery. This means I cannot return to normal work hours yet. But praise the Lord! God is keeping me healthy as I obey him in letting go work to receive the rest he wants to provide.

Meanwhile, office assistant Kathy Taylor has been with her mom who is passing away.

Remember, it’s the staff of GNM who keeps everything going during my time away. And if not for generous donor support, there would be no staff. Will you help? Please visit gnm.org/donate.

Thank you for your prayers and for any other kind of support you can give us during this time.

Next Special Event: Consecration to the Holy Spirit

Pray to the Holy SpiritYou are invited to consecrate yourself to the Holy Spirit in a special event hosted by Good News Ministries. Hurry! It begins May 7th.

Please share this very important invitation with others. You can even use it to form a prayer group in your home, gathering friends and neighbors to watch the videos together and discuss them.

Jesus wants you to become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s promptings. Wherever you are on your journey of faith, by opening yourself to the truths that will be revealed in this 44-day CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT, your life will never be the same.

Each day you will receive a prayer and a short video. You will learn how to hear the Holy Spirit and start living in the power of the Holy Spirit. Consecration day will be June 5, Pentecost. Afterward, we will continue in a Mystagogia Period for two weeks of learning how to pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, ending on June 19, the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
