December 12 – Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe

listenHoly Lord, You sent Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Blessed Virgin, to Juan Diego to accomplish a great work through a simple Indian convert.  She asked him to deliver a message to the bishop for the construction of a shrine where she was standing.  Once it was built, it became a miraculous site for pilgrimages.  Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of the Americas, so I ask her to intercede for all inhabitants of this continent.  O Jesus, give us the desire and power to overcome evil, particularly the sin of abortion.  Subdue the enemy as it tries to grab our children.  Increase the holiness of all Christians.  Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.  Amen.

Quotes for Today

Pope St. John Paul II (1920-2005)
“On Our Lady of Guadalupe”

quoteWe also are awaiting the descent of the Holy Spirit, who will make us see the paths of evangelization by which the Church must continue and must be reborn in this great continent of ours. We also wish today and in the days ahead to devote ourselves to prayer with Mary, the Mother of our Lord and Master — with you, Mother of hope, Mother of Guadalupe.”

Blessed Ludwik Bartosik (1909-1941)
Feast day December 12

quoteUntil now we wrote and told someone else how to bear suffering, now it is our turn to get over all this, otherwise what value could our words have?”
