October 11 – Saint Alexander Sauli
Holy Spirit, Saint Alexander Sauli (1534-1592) became a bishop in a diocese where faith had died. Clergy and laity knew little about scripture and Church teachings. With the help of three friends, he inspired the people to new faith, corrected abuses, rebuilt broken down churches, and founded colleges and seminaries. His diocese became spiritually alive. I ask him to pray for those in my church and for the people I know whose faith is inactive. O Lord, remind them of their emptiness and stimulate their hunger for spiritual growth. Inspire the faithful to lead them into a greater awareness of Your love. Saint Alexander, pray for us. Amen.
Quotes for Today
Pope Saint John XXIII (1881-1963)
Feast day October 11
Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.”
What gives man dignity is not his wealth or good fortune or noble birth but a worthy and virtuous life and the dignity of his labor.”
