May 7 – Saint Domitian of Huy

Saint-Domitian.jpg

listenO Loving Jesus, Saint Domitian of Huy (d.560) was firm and powerful when he spoke out against heretics and pagans, and yet he always treated others with much compassion.  This love overflowed into the desire to build churches and hospices to care for the religious and physical needs of the people.  I ask Saint Domitian to pray for me to find the balance between spiritual toughness and gentle love.  Lord, fill me with Your compassion, most especially when I encounter people who are not godly—people who are abusive or anti-Christian or immoral in other ways.  Give me the words to speak the truth with love.  Saint Domitian, pray for me.  Amen.

quoteI find myself so bound to the Divine will that neither death nor life is important: I want to live as He wishes and I want to serve Him as He likes, and nothing more.”
