September 12 – Saint Eanswida

Saint Eanswida or Eanswythe

listenSweet Jesus, Saint Eanswida (also known as Eanswith and Eanswythe; c.630-c.659) was betrothed by her father to a pagan prince, but she did not want to marry him.  Faced with the task of convincing her father to change his mind without offending him, she sought Your help.  She made her request with kindness and good humor, and he granted her desire.  I ask her to pray for me when I have to give information that the hearer might not like.  Give me the words and the compassion to communicate persuasively and remove my fear of rejection.  Bless the minds of the persons I speak to; may they hear what You intend and respond as You desire.  Saint Eanswida (also known as Eanswythe), pray for us.  Amen.

Quote for Today

Blessed Juvenal Ancina (1545-1604)
September 12

quoteOftentimes, when we least expect it, when there seems no chance of it, we are suddenly snatched out of this life. Why then do we not follow the saving advice of Saint Paul and devote ourselves to living soberly and justly, looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God?”
