February 29 – Saint Oswald

Saint Oswald

Lord, you entrusted Saint Oswald (c.604-c.641) to be a wise and good king of Anglo-Saxton Northumbria. He realized that much help was needed to restore Christianity to his country and that he could not do it alone. You inspired and guided him to instigate and support missionary efforts by the Irish monk Aidan of Lindisfarne.  Lord Jesus, there are so many times when I try to “go it alone” or somehow think that I can solve problems as if I’m the savior of the world.  Forgive me for my arrogance, and inspire me to recognize and enlist the aid of the brothers and sisters you’ve placed in my life. Empower us to work together in bringing Your Gospel and Your compassion to the world.  Help me and others to always place our trust in the one true Savior — that is You, Lord Jesus Christ.  Saint Oswald, pray for us. Amen.
