September 24 – Saint Pacificus of San Severino
O Christ Jesus, Saint Pacificus of San Severino (1653-1721) was a priest who had the gift of reading people’s consciences, and when they came to him for Confession, he helped them get more deeply in touch with their sins and receive fuller healing through Your forgiveness. I ask him to pray for me and my loved ones, that we become more aware of what our consciences are telling us. Form our consciences, Lord, and help us to stop rationalizing our sins, to come out of denial about what is wrong in our lives, to face painful areas that need healing, and to overcome the pride that keeps us from seeking Your forgiveness. Saint Pacificus, pray for us. Amen.
Quote for Today
Blessed Anton Martin Slomsek (1800-1862)
Feast day September 24
The world has grown old; the human race is adrift. Well, yes, if we abandon humanity to its natural course, to its fatal direction. No, if the power from on high that is preserved in the religion of Jesus and in His Church is poured out anew on all ranks of the human race and restores them to life.”
The prayer above is from Terry Modica’s book Daily Prayers with the Saints.
