June 2 – Saints Marcellinus and Peter

Saints-Marcellinus-and-Peter.jpg

listenBeloved Lord Jesus, Saints Marcellinus and Peter were martyred during the early persecutions, but they faced their deaths with remarkable serenity.  This amazing attitude proved to the pagans that there was something about You, which none of their gods could provide.  O Lord, help me to experience Your peace no matter what is going on in my life, and let this be a witness to others.  Put me in touch with the inner tranquility that comes with letting You dwell deeply within my heart.  Teach me how to rely on this whenever I am facing persecutions, trials, or any other kind of suffering.  Saints Marcellinus and Peter, pray for me.  Amen.

Quote for Today

Venerable Fulton Sheen (1895-1979)

quoteThe pacifist thinks that the alternative to war is peace; it is not. Sometimes the alternative is oppression. Sometimes certain God-given rights and liberties can be preserved only by resistance to that which would destroy them. And to defend certain basic God-given rights and liberties is not immoral but righteous.”
