Why I know Ralph is living in the fullness of joy

It’s been almost a month since the Lord unexpectedly took Ralph to his everlasting Home. Losing my husband of 48 years — and my closest partner in ministry — has been, naturally, very difficult. But the love that’s been pouring in from my GNM family all around the world and the embrace of my local friends and parish community have helped my heart begin to heal. (I especially want to thank Nance who immediately flew across country to stay with me. She is taking good care of me.)

I’d like to share with you a couple of miraculous moments; they reveal a hint of what passing from this earth to our heavenly home is like.

Nance had met Ralph and me in 1998 when Jesus sent her to us for an important stage in her healing journey. Ralph even became like a surrogate dad to Nance’s daughter Mindy.

Mindy recently posted on Facebook: “You and Ralph have been such a blessing to my mother and I, especially during the time I lost my father. I knew he would be there in a second if I needed him. I will treasure the moments we had at your house, especially the moment he broke in song, singing the Green Acres theme song (of course singing the female part). He has such a big heart and really knew how to make people feel special. He will be surely missed.”

On the night of Ralph’s passing, Nance felt his presence visit her. She had a strong sense that he was saying to her: “Tell Terry that I am soooooo sorry.” In an instant, she knew that he was experiencing a Purgatory moment. When we pass from our earthly lives into the afterlife, every deed we’ve ever done — and its impact on others — becomes so clear to us that we deeply regret even the smallest sins.

The second story I’d like to share with you happened during Ralph’s funeral Mass. My friend Tina received a vision of what was happening to Ralph. She saw Jesus carry Ralph and hand him gently into the arms of the Blessed Mother. Mary held him the same way she is depicted holding Jesus’ dead body in Michelangelo’s famous Pieta statue. She pulled Ralph’s head to her shoulder and then took him to Heaven.

Ralph used to pray the Rosary as a weapon for spiritual warfare. This is one of the ways he protected me and Good News Ministries. Tina’s vision is not only preciously beautiful, it is also a glimpse of the value of the Hail Mary: “Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of death.”

Frankly, I’m a bit envious of Ralph. God still has a purpose for me here on earth, but Ralph is living in the fullness of joy. His mission now is to pray for me and for Good News Ministries more powerfully than ever before.

What is Heaven really like?

Two years ago, Ralph and I made a video podcast about the afterlife. We had attended the funeral of a neighbor who was a Jehovah’s Witness. The description of Heaven that we heard from the leader of the congregation was not one that we want to believe in.
