God was my Provider during Hurricane Milton

Hurrican Milton

This is my first hurricane season without Ralph. I’ve been relying on Jesus more than ever. And I’ve discovered that Jesus takes special care of widows and orphans. Now that he is my only and True Husband, I’ve leaned on him more than I needed to when Ralph was with me on Earth.

Jesus helps me open jars that I used to give to Ralph!

So of course I leaned heavily on him to take care of my needs during Hurricane Milton. Let me tell you some of the ways he provided!

Back in May, I hired a handyman business (Bobby and his son Jacob, owners and hard workers) to replace the rotting steps in my backyard. I was so pleased with their quality and their work ethic, I gave them more projects to fix my house or make it safer for me to live alone in. But soon Bobby got sick and was hospitalized with pneumonia. Weeks went by. I turned to Jesus and said, “Why oh why did you give me a handyman who got so sick?”

Jesus answered, “Because you’re the only client who would be patient and forgiving during his difficulties.”

“Oh.”

But there was more to it than that. When he came back to work a couple of months later, he appreciated me so much that he considered me a treasured friend in Christ and he chose to house-sit to keep my dogs company when I had my back surgery. When I got home from the surgery center, he had dinner waiting for me so I could rest.

When Milton came along, he and Jacob spent a whole day preparing my house (at no cost), getting sandbags, putting up all the hurricane panels on my windows, brought in everything that might fly around from the strong winds, and so forth.

Someone else whom Jesus provided is Chris. A friend of my cousin, he came to my aid when my car needed repairs right after Ralph passed away. He’s a whiz as a mechanic. He also fixed my lawn mower. He offered to help with anything else I might need done. Then came Milton. Chris was going to have to evacuate his home so I invited him to hunker down in my house. He would be bringing several cats (his family). What would my two dogs think of that?!

Jesus provided Chris so he could run my generator and help with everything else that I could not handle by myself.

Note from Graciela, Assistant Administrator: Terry tells me that she made it through the hurricane okay. Several trees got blown over, lots of broken branches are scattered throughout her yard, she lost a few roof shingles, and she has no power. Chris started up the generator and cleared the driveway. Pray for her power to come back on before running out of generator gas. She has no internet connection. And pray for those who are having a tragically worse time of it.
