Jesus dies on the cross

Station 12

At long last, Your pain ended when you finished exhaling Your final breath. I want to die with You. I want to die to all my selfishness, all my uncaring tendencies, all my desires and decisions and control, so that what remains is only Your love at work in me. Amen.

The artist’s story: Jesus dying on the cross is something we have all become accustomed to seeing, whether on our Rosary Crucifix or behind the altar at Mass. I wanted to approach the familiar image with a fresh, new approach. I wanted to create a dynamic, action-filled piece which told a story. My goal was to capture the darkness and utter disparity of the moment, coupled with the hope of the release of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. How would God the Father feel at the slaying of His precious child? Should not the skies have been torn asunder?

I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed making it.
