Stations of the Cross

Jesus is taken down from the cross

by Sherry Phillips from California
Art Media: Watercolor and Acrylic Paint

Station 12

Dying to all that is sinful in me, do I have loved ones to care about me and to give me rest? Yes! Your Mother knows me. My love for You has connected me to her. Help me to find rest in her motherly care. Amen.

The artist’s story: I’ve always loved the wooden Pieta sculptures by Franz Ignaz Gunther, one of which was my inspiration for this work. I hope you like this as much as I enjoyed painting it. Funny that there was only one Station left in need of an artist –it truly would have been my first pick!

(Meet her on facebook and see more of her artwork!)
