May 15 – Saint Dymphna

Saint-Dymphna.jpg

listenCompassionate Lord, when Saint Dymphna was fourteen (7th Century), her mother died and her distraught father thought he could fill the hole in his life by marrying his daughter.  When she fled, he tracked her down.  When she still refused to marry him, he cut off her head in a rage.  I ask her to intercede for those in my life who are handicapped by mental disorders or emotional instability.  Heal us, O Savior.  Touch the inner wounds of these precious people, and bring wholeness to each life.  Help them find You in their moments of deep hurt, and replace their emptiness with Your love.  Saint Dymphna, pray for us.  Amen.

Quote for Today

Venerable Fulton Sheen (1895-1979)

quoteThe wicked fear the good, because the good are a constant reproach to their consciences. The ungodly like religion in the same way that they like lions, either dead or behind bars; they fear religion when it breaks loose and begins to challenge their consciences.”
