December 28 – The Holy Innocents
Blessed Savior, when King Herod tried to kill You by slaughtering the innocent children who were two years old or younger, they became martyrs for the Faith. Dying before they could experience temptation and sin, they received the glory of triumphing over the world for Your sake. The Holy Innocents are the patron saints of choir boys and girls and other little children who serve the Church. I ask them to intercede for the young ones of my parish, especially those who are not being raised by faith-filled parents. Protect their souls, dear Lord, from becoming corrupted by the world. Help us all to give them Your love. Holy Innocents, pray for us. Amen.
Quote for Today
Venerable Fulton Sheen (1895-1979)
“On the Feast of the Holy Innocents”
These Innocents died for the King Whom they had never known. Like little lambs, they died for the sake of the Lamb, the prototypes of a long procession of martyrs — these children who never struggled, but were crowned.”
