December 11 – Saint Damasus

Saint Damasus I

listenDear Jesus, Saint Damasus (306-366) was a Pope known for his genius, humility, concern for the poor, and zeal for protecting the Faith.  He commissioned Saint Jerome to write the Vulgate translation of the Bible and he restored the shrines, catacombs, and tombs of martyrs.  I ask him to intercede for the needs of our Pope and to pray for his protection against evil.  O Lord, give him the Holy Spirit’s wisdom as he guides the Church through difficult times and the rampant immorality that is seducing the world.  Help all the faithful to support his ministry by carrying it out where we live and worship.  Saint Damasus, pray for us.  Amen.
